Q: My oil check light is on?

A: This indicates the engine has insufficient oil and requires a top up. This can happen between regular service intervals although if this happens too frequently then may indicate a deeper problem that requires remedy.

Vehicle low oil indicator light

There are usually two colours for the Oil Check Light

Yellow - Topping up the engine oil should be sufficient to resolve the problem. However when doing so, consult the vehicle owners manual to ensure

  • High Grade Petronas oil
  • The correct grade and type of oil is used
  • Too much oil is not put into the engine as this causes further damage to the engine

Red - There is a serious problem and the vehicle should not be driven. Continuous driving, particularly if there are any noises coming from the engine will result in expensive damage to the engine.

If you'd like Advanced Motorcare to check the oil we provide a fluid check service and will ensure the correct lubricants are used for your model of car.

See our Vehicle Diagnostic information for more details and examples of some examples of the dashboard warning lights and symbols you may come across.
